Amherst, N.Y.  – The Molloy women's soccer team fell to the Daemen Wildcats, 3-2, in overtime Saturday afternoon at Karrer Field. The Lions moved to 0-3-1 overall and 0-1 in East Coast Conference play with the loss. The Wildcats improved to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

How it Happened

• The Lions opened the scoring with a goal from freshman Lexi Verni in the first minute.
• Molloy extended its advantage to 2-0 after freshman Joanna Graca found the back of the net in the 11^th minute.
• Junior Jamie Boyar scored for Daemen to cut the maroon and white's lead to 2-1 in the 29^th minute.
• Boyar tied the match in the 60^th minute.
• The home team had a chance to take the lead in the 84^th minute, but Boyar's penalty kick went wide of the net.
• Boyar tallied the winner 1:30 into overtime.

Top Performances

• Graca leads the team with two goals.
• Verni netted her first collegiate goal.
• Graduate student Felicia LaPera tallied her first assist of the season, and the second of her career.
• Goalkeeper Jackie Carty, who leads the East Coast Conference with 49 saves, made 12 stops. The sophomore has made double-digit saves in each of the Lions' first four contests.

Coach's Comments 

• "It was a disappointing result after such a good start," head coach Steve Price said. "We have three games next week,so we need to stay together, work hard, and keep believing."

• Molloy returns home to play Georgian Court Tuesday, September 18. Kickoff with the Lions is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at John A. Darcy Field.
