Brookville, N.Y. (Apr. 29, 2018) – The Molloy baseball team defeated the LIU Post Pioneers, 3-2, Sunday afternoon at LIU Post Baseball Field. The Lions improved to 26-19 overall and finished ECC play 18-6. Sophomore Sean Hogan tallied two hits and two RBIs, and senior Elijah Leerdam collected one hit and drove in a run.
The Lions opened the scoring in the top of the first. Hogan hit an RBI single to right field to make it 1-0.
Molloy added to its lead with two runs in the third on RBI singles from Leerdam and Hogan.
LIU Post (25-17, 13-7 ECC) plated runs in the fourth and seventh innings to cut the maroon and white's lead to 3-2.
Sophomore Anthony Vano pitched six innings, gave up two runs, one earned, on eight hits, and struck out two batters to improve to 5-2 on the season.
Senior Shawn Klotsche recorded the final two outs of the game to earn his eighth save of the season.
The Lions head to play Pace Friday, May 4. First pitch with the Setters is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
