Softball Drops Doubleheader at Adelphi

Garden City, N.Y. (Apr. 28, 2018) – The softball team fell to the Panthers of Adelphi University in its final non-league doubleheader of the 2018 season. With the losses, Molloy fell to 27-21 on the season.
 
Game One: Molloy 2, Adelphi 4
The Lions opened the scoring in the top of the fourth inning, as senior Bernadette Mullane scored freshman Courtney Greene with a single to right field. The following at bat, freshman Jaclyn Rodriguez doubled the visitor's lead with a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring senior Chrissy Heyer.

Adelphi cut the lead in half in the bottom half of the inning with a solo home run from Brenna Martini. The Panthers added three additional runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on a triple from Nicole Camera.

Greene, Mullane, and senior Alexandra Russo each recorded hits for Molloy in the effort. Junior Jenna Turato tossed five innings, allowing four runs on four hits while striking out four in the loss.
 
Game Two: Molloy 0, Adelphi 7
After four and a half scoreless innings, the Panthers took a 2-0 lead in the fifth on a home run from Emily Turney and a single from Lauren O'Neill. The home team then plated five runs in the sixth inning on a two-run home run, an RBI double, and a two-run throwing error to take a 7-0 victory.

Greene recorded the lone hit for the Lions in the loss. The freshman allowed two runs on four hits, striking out three batters, in 4.2 innings of work.
 
Molloy concludes the regular season in a doubleheader against Saint Thomas Aquinas College tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. from Sparkill, N.Y.
