Softball Shut Out by LIU Post

Rockville Centre, N.Y. (Apr. 24, 2018) - The softball team dropped two East Coast Conference contests to LIU Post, falling to 27-19 on the season and 13-9 in league play.

The team honored its six seniors, Chrissy Heyer, Bernadette Mullane, Alexandra Russo, Brianna Dalton, Olivia Banulski, and Sarah Rambo in a pre-game ceremony.

Game One: Molloy 0, LIU Post 1
The game remained scoreless through three innings until the Pioneers brought home what would become the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly from Megan Sneeden in the top of the fourth inning.

Molloy, who recorded five hits on the afternoon, had baserunners in both the sixth and seventh innings but was unable to plate a run.

Banulski and Heyer each recorded two hits in the effort with Dalton totaling the other hit for the Lions.

Game Two: Molloy 0, LIU Post 6
LIU Post took an early lead on an RBI single from Breanna Klaiber in the top of the first inning. A fielding error doubled the visitors' lead in the fourth inning. Sneeden added another sacrifice fly in the fifth inning to give the Pioneers a 3-0 lead on the Lions before two errors set the score at 6-0 after six innings of play.

Russo tallied two hits for the maroon and white in the effort.

Molloy steps out of league play on Friday (Apr. 27) as they face Adelphi University at 2:00 p.m.
