Uniondale, N.Y. (Apr. 22, 2018) – The Molloy baseball team fell to the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans, 10-4, Sunday afternoon at the Mitchel Field Athletic Complex. The Lions moved to 23-18 overall and 15-5 in league play with the loss. Freshman
Matt Overton tallied two hits and one RBI, and senior
Angelo Navetta scored two runs and collected one hit and one RBI.
STAC (28-9, 14-2 ECC) scored three runs in the first and one in the second to take a 4-0 advantage.
The Spartans added two more runs in the fourth to increase their lead to 6-0.
In the bottom of the fourth, senior
Elijah Leerdam grounded out, which scored Overton.
The visitors plated three runs in the sixth to make it a 9-1 game.
Navetta blasted an RBI triple to cut the lead to 9-2 in the sixth. Later in the frame, Overton grounded out to score Navetta and make it a 9-3 contest.
Navetta scored on a wild pitch in the eighth.
STAC added one run in the ninth.
Molloy travels to play LIU Post Friday, Apr. 27. The first game of the four-game series is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
