Dalton, Snyder Homer in Softball Sweep of Mercy

Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. (Apr. 12, 2018) – Home runs from junior Kaitlyn Snyder and senior Brianna Dalton and a triple from senior Olivia Banulski led the softball team to a sweep of Mercy College. With the two victories, the Lions have taken the season series against the Mavericks, 4-0, and improve to 22-14 on the season and 10-4 in East Coast Conference play.

Game One: Molloy 5, Mercy 0
The Molloy bats were active from the start, as Snyder led off the game with a home run over the left field fence. Freshman Courtney Greene and senior Sarah Rambo led off the third inning with back-to-back singles, setting the table for Dalton's shot down the left field line to make it 4-0. In the fifth, Rambo hit a single to right field, driving in Banulski to give the Lions a 5-0 lead.

Snyder and Rambo each recorded two hits for the maroon and white, with Rambo and Banulski each stealing a base. Dalton led with three RBIs.

In the circle, junior Jenna Turato pitched 3.1 innings in relief, improving to 12-7 on the season.

Game Two: Molloy 5, Mercy 2
After three and a half scoreless innings, the Mavericks scored two runs on an RBI single from Skania Lemus.

Senior Alexandra Russo and Snyder each singled to start the fifth inning for Molloy, scoring on the triple from Banulski to tie the contest. The Lions added an insurance run the following at bat on a single to center field from Greene.

The maroon and white plated two more runs the following inning as senior Bernadette Mullane scored on a fielding error before freshman Sarah Glaser scored on a sacrifice fly from Snyder to set the score at 5-2.

Snyder and Rambo recorded two hits in the effort.

Turato allowed only two hits through the final two innings to keep Mercy from scoring. The junior tossed four innings of relief for her second win of the afternoon.

The Lions return to action on Sunday (Apr. 15) as they welcome New York Institute of Technology to Bob Klein Field. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
