Softball Slips Against LIU Post

Brookville, N.Y. (Apr. 10, 2018) - The softball team traveled to LIU Post earlier this afternoon, falling in both contests to bring the team's record to 20-14 on the season and 8-4 in East Coast Conference play.

Game One: Molloy 2, LIU Post 11 (5 innings)
The maroon and white trailed 1-0 headed into the third inning of play after the Pioneers scored on an RBI single in the first inning.

Junior Kaitlyn Snyder tied the contest, hitting a solo home run to right center field.

The home team, however, countered by scoring five runs in the bottom half of the inning on a three-run home run and a two-run double.

Junior Alexandra Russo brought the Lions within four, 6-2, in the fourth inning with an RBI double down the left field line.

LIU Post scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a nine-run lead, causing the game to end via the run rule.

Molloy tallied five hits in the contest featuring a home run from Snyder and doubles from Russo and senior Brianna Dalton

Game Two: Molloy 0, LIU Post 4
The Lions' offensive struggles continued into the second game, as the team was held to just three hits in the second game.

The Pioneers plated three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth inning in the four-run victory, all scored on singles.

Dalton and seniors Chrissy Heyer and Olivia Banulski recorded the lone hits for Molloy on the afternoon.

The team will look to right the ship on Thursday (Apr. 12) as they head to Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. for a doubleheader against Mercy College. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
