Caldwell, N.J. (Apr. 10, 2018) – The Molloy baseball team defeated the Caldwell Cougars, 10-0, Tuesday afternoon at the Kiwanis Oval. The Lions improved to 19-13 overall with the win. Senior
Elijah Leerdam led the team with three hits and three RBIs, and junior
Nick Marino tallied two hits and drove in three runs.
The Lions opened the scoring in the first. Leerdam hit a two-RBI single to left field to make it 2-0.
In the third, Marino drilled a three-run home run to increase the lead to 5-0.
Freshman
Matt Overton grounded out to score senior
Angelo Navetta, and sophomore
Jake Saltzman hit a solo home run to extend the Lions' lead to 7-0 after four innings of play.
In the sixth, Overton ripped an RBI double to bring the advantage to 8-0.
The maroon and white plated two runs in the ninth to make it a 10-0 contest. Leerdam started the scoring with a solo home run, and freshman
Mike LiVorio drove in sophomore
Sean Hogan with a single to right field.

James Murphy pitched four shutout innings and struck out one batter.
Molloy returns to action tomorrow, Apr. 11 when its hosts Queens. First pitch with the Knights is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
