Uniondale, N.Y. (Mar. 4, 2018) – The Molloy baseball team dropped a doubleheader to the Merrimack Warriors Sunday afternoon at the Mitchel Athletic Complex. The Lions fell in game one, 10-2, and lost the second game, 7-5, in eight innings. The maroon and white moved to 3-7 overall with the losses.
Game One: Molloy 2, Merrimack 10
The Lions opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning. Senior
Jack McCarty and sophomore
Sean Hogan drew walks to start the game. With runners on second and third, junior
David Lim drilled a two-run single to center field to give Molloy a 2-0 lead.
Merrimack (6-4) scored one run in the second to cut the maroon and white's advantage to 2-1.
The Warriors then plated four runs in the third and three in the fourth to take an 8-2 lead.
The road team added one run in the fifth and seventh on its way to victory.
Game 2: Molloy 5, Merrimack 7
The Warriors scored one run in the top of the first to take an early lead.
Molloy responded with two runs in the second frame. McCarty hit a two-run single to center to put the home team up 2-1.
In the third, freshman
Jake McCarthy grounded out to second to score senior
Angelo Navetta, which made it 3-1.
Merrimack tied the score at three in the fourth inning and took a 4-3 lead in the top of the fifth.
In the bottom of the fifth, Hogan, who has reached base in each of the Lions' first 10 games, scored on a passed ball to knot the score at four.
The Lions took a 5-4 lead on an RBI single from junior
Ryan Hensley in the sixth.
The Warriors tied the game in the top of the seventh and scored two runs in the eighth to secure the win.

Michael Wall collected two hits apiece in the loss.
Senior
Kevin Hiss threw five innings, gave up four runs, two earned, and struck out seven batters earning a no-decision.
Molloy returns to action Friday, Mar. 9 when it faces Stonehill at the Barry Invitational in Miami Shores, Florida. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
