New Haven, Conn. (Mar. 31, 2018) – The Molloy women's lacrosse team fell to the No. 14 New Haven Chargers, 19-12, Saturday afternoon at Kathy Zoland Stadium. The Lions moved to 7-5 with the loss. Senior Jessica Markowitz netted six goals, and redshirt junior Ali Pfeifer (one goal and three assists) tallied four points for the maroon and white.

New Haven (4-4) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. Markowitz scored to cut the advantage to 2-1. With the score 3-1, Molloy, led by two goals from Markowitz and one from Pfeifer, tallied the next three to take a 4-3 lead. The Chargers went ahead 5-4, but the Lions answered with three consecutive goals from junior Casie Caiazza, Markowitz, and junior Michaela Siegler to go up 7-5. The home team ended the half on a 6-0 run and led 11-7 at the break.

The Chargers netted the first two goals of the second half to extend their lead to 13-7. Junior Brianna Wilson (three goals) found the back of the net to shrink the lead to 13-8. Wilson cut the lead to 15-10 later in the half, but that was as close as the Lions would get.
