Softball Splits Series with Pace University

Rockville Centre, N.Y. (Mar. 28, 2018) - The softball team split a doubleheader against Pace University, taking an 8-3 victory in the first game before falling, 5-0, in the second game. The Lions now sit at 12-10 on the season. 

Game One: Molloy 8, Pace 3
Junior Kaitlyn Snyder, who went 4-for-4 on the afternoon, put the maroon and white on the board in the bottom of the first inning, scoring on a wild pitch. 

The Setters tied the contest in the top of the third on an RBI double to left centerfield, but a ground out from senior Sarah Rambo and a single down the left field line from senior Chrissy Heyer gave Molloy a two-run lead, 3-1. 

Pace would come within one in the top of the fifth, but the Lions put up four runs in the bottom half on the inning on singles from seniors Brianna Dalton and Alexandra Russo and a sacrifice fly from senior Bernadette Mullane

Pace scored its third run on a solo home run, but Dalton ended the game's scoring with a double to right center to set the score at 8-3. 

Dalton went 3-for-3, driving in two runs. Russo, who went 1-for-3, also drive in two runs in the victory. 

Junior pitcher Jenna Turato tossed a complete game, striking out six batters for her sixth win of the season. 

Game Two: Molloy 0, Pace 5The Setters took an early 3-0 lead after two innings of play on a single, fielder's choice, and home run. before adding a home run in the fifth and a single in the sixth inning. 

The Lions were held to only four hits through the seven innings from Heyer, senior Olivia Banulski, and freshmen Sarah Glaser and Tonianne Larson.

Larson pitched 5.1 innings in the loss, allowing three runs on seven hits while fanning five batters. 

The maroon and white open East Coast Conference play tomorrow (Mar. 29) in a doubleheader against Queens College beginning at 3:00 p.m.
