Wilson Records Six Points in Win Over Queens

Rockville Centre, N.Y. (Mar. 27, 2018) – The Molloy women's lacrosse team defeated the Queens College Knights, 17-2, Tuesday evening at John A. Darcy Field. The Lions improved to 7-4 overall and 3-1 in ECC play with the win. Junior Brianna Wilson (three goals and three assists) registered a team-high six points, and junior Casie Caiazza (four goals and one assist) and senior Jessica Markowitz (three goals and two assists) tallied five points each for the maroon and white.

Queens (4-2, 0-1 ECC) scored first. The Lions answered with three straight goals, led by two from Caiazza and one from Markowitz. The Knights cut the lead to 3-2. Molloy netted the next six goals, led by two from redshirt junior Ali Pfeifer and one each from junior Michaela Siegler, freshman Jillian Mayr, Markowitz, and Caiazza, and led 9-2 at the break.

The maroon and white continued to succeed on the offensive attack in the second half. The Lions scored eight consecutive goals, sparked by three from Wilson, and one apiece from Caiazza, Markowitz, and sophomores Nora Miller, Kelsey Hammel, and Amanda Reyes. The rally was part of a 14-0 run, which started with 11:35 left in the first frame.

Wilson controlled 11 draws, and freshman Kaitlyn Meyer caused five turnovers and picked up four ground balls. Junior Emily Bauer caused two turnovers and logged four ground balls in the win. Freshman goalie Alexandra Long made four saves to improve to 6-1 on the season.

Molloy travels to play the University of New Haven Saturday, Mar. 31. Face-off with the Charges is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
