Brookville, N.Y. (Mar. 23, 2018) – The Molloy women's lacrosse team fell to the LIU Post Pioneers, 15-6, Friday afternoon at Bethpage Stadium. The Lions moved to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in league play with the loss. Junior
Brianna Wilson led the maroon and white with two goals.
Senior
Jessica Markowitz gave the Lions an early 1-0 edge. LIU Post (5-2, 2-0 ECC) netted the next seven goals to take a 7-1 lead. Sophomore
Nora Miller found the back of the net to cut the home team's advantage to 7-2, but the Pioneers scored before the end of the half and led 8-2 at the break.
Wilson netted a goal to start the half to make it an 8-3 game. Post went on a 4-0 rally to bring its lead to 12-3. Molloy scored three of the next four goals on tallies from freshman
Jillian Mayr, junior
Casie Caiazza, and Wilson to cut the lead to 13-6, but that was as close as the maroon and white would get.
Markowitz and Wilson each controlled four draws, and junior
Nicole DiGregorio picked up three ground balls in the contest. Freshman goalie
Alexandra Long made five saves for the Lions.
Molloy returns home to play St. Thomas Aquinas Saturday, Mar. 24. Face-off against the Spartans is scheduled for noon.
