Rockville Centre, N.Y. (Mar. 18, 2018) – The Molloy women's lacrosse team defeated the Caldwell Cougars, 20-6, Sunday afternoon at John A. Darcy Field. The Lions improved to 5-3 with the win. Senior
Jessica Markowitz (six goals and one assist) tallied a team-high seven points, and juniors
Brianna Wilson (four goals and two assists) and
Michaela Siegler (one goal and five assists) recorded six points each.
The Lions jumped out to a 3-0 advantage on goals from sophomore
Amanda Reyes, Wilson, and Markowitz. After Caldwell (0-2) cut the lead to 3-1, Reyes found the back to the net to increase the home team's lead to 4-1. With the score 4-2, Molloy netted 10 straight goals, led by five from Markowitz, two from Wilson, and one apiece from sophomore
Nora Miller, Siegler, and Reyes, to make it 14-2. The maroon and white bought a 14-3 lead into the break.
After the Cougars scored to make it 14-4, Wilson scored to extend the advantage to 15-4. Freshman
Jillian Mayr and sophomore
Molly Brown scored two goals in the second half, and sophomore
Kelsey Hammel netted one en route to a 20-6 victory.
Wilson controlled seven draws, Markowitz, Siegler, and senior
Angela Bollettieri picked four ground balls each. Freshman
Alexandra Long made five saves to move to 4-0 on the season.
Molloy travels to play ECC-foe LIU Post Wednesday, Mar. 21. Face-off with the Pioneers is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
