Clermont, Fla. (Mar. 15, 2018) – The Molloy College softball team concluded its appearance in the PFX Spring Games with two victories, improving to 8-8 on the campaign. The bats sprung to action, as four separate Lions hit home runs on the performance.
Game One: Molloy 10, William Jewell 6
Freshman
Courtney Greene gave the maroon and white a 3-0 lead in the first inning with the second home run of her collegiate career.
The Cardinals, however, brought in two runs in the bottom half of the inning on a triple from Madelynne Greenstreet and a double from Brooke Bernard. The game would be tied in the bottom of the third following a sacrifice fly from Kelsey Morgan.

Brianna Dalton set up a two-run double from junior
Kaitlyn Snyder. Greene brought in the second baseman with a sacrifice fly for her fourth RBI of the contest before a single from sophomore
Mikaela Tribby scored senior
Olivia Banulski to put the Lions in front, 7-3.
William Jewell would come within one with a three-run fourth inning, but a single from Russo scored senior
Chrissy Heyer to give Molloy the two-run lead.
Dalton gave the maroon and white a four-run lead in the seventh inning with her first home run of the year to secure the win.
Junior
Jenna Turato earned her fifth win of the season, pitching 3.2 innings while striking out four batters. Freshman
Tonianne Larson recorded her first save of her career, fanning two in 3.1 innings of relief.
Game Two: Molloy 7, Northwood 5 (8 innings)
Molloy took a 2-0 lead after the first inning on a bases-clearing double from Heyer.
A home run put the Timberwolves on the board in the third inning before tying the contest, 2-2, with a double in the fourth inning.
Junior
Tara Byrnes broke the knot in the bottom half of the fourth inning with an RBI single to right field, but Northwood took advantage of errors to take a 5-3 lead midway through the fifth inning.
A single from freshman
Sarah Glaser set up a game-tying homer for Snyder in the fifth inning.
The Timberwolves loaded the bases in the top half of the seventh inning, but Molloy worked itself out of a jam before going down in order in the home half of the order to force extra innings.
After a scoreless top half of the eighth inning, Snyder was placed on second for the Lions to begin the home portion of the frame due to the international tie breaker. Down to the last out, senior
Sarah Rambo sent the ball over the left field fence for a walk-off home run, giving Molloy a 7-5 victory.
Larson picked up her first collegiate win, improving to 1-1 on the year in the effort.
The Lions open the home portion of the schedule on Saturday (Mar. 17) with a doubleheader against Merrimack College at 12:00 p.m.
