Clermont, Fla. (Mar. 14, 2018) – The Molloy softball team fell in a doubleheader against No. 20 Southern New Hampshire University in the penultimate day of its appearance in the PFX Spring Games.
Game One: Molloy 2, SNHU 7
The Penmen took an early lead following an RBI single to right field by Sarah Lavallee. SNHU would increase the deficit with a four-run third inning after Erin Garczynski reached on an error to set up an RBI single from Shay Sauvageau and an RBI double by Emily Critch.
Molloy, who tallied five hits in the effort, got on the board in the fifth inning following a double from senior
Alexandra Russo, scoring fellow seniors
Chrissy Heyer and
Sarah Rambo.
Southern New Hampshire regained its five-run lead in the sixth inning on a two-run single by Lavallee.
Heyer recorded two hits for the maroon and white with Russo picking up two RBIs. Junior
Jenna Turato tossed 2.1 innings, striking out one, to fall to 4-4 on the campaign.
Game Two: Molloy 1, SNHU 7
The bats were alive in the first inning for the Penmen, who took a 4-1 lead after the first inning on a three-run home run from Lavallee and an RBI single by Brittany Perdiagao.
Following a bunt single from Heyer to start off the bottom of the second inning, Russo drove in her third run of the day with a double to right field.
SNHU tallied two additional runs in the third inning following a fielding error before an RBI single from Garczynski rounded out the scoring, 7-1, in the fourth inning.

Mikaela Tribby each recorded two hits for the maroon and white. Freshman
Courtney Greene fell to 2-3 on the season in the loss; fellow rookie
Tonianne Larson struck out seven in relief while recording a hit at the plate.
Molloy will conclude the 2018 PFX Spring Games with two single games tomorrow (Mar. 15). The Lions will face William Jewell College at 8:30 a.m. before concluding the trip against Northwood University at 10:30 a.m.
