Softball Drops Two to West Chester at PFX Spring Games

Clermont, Fla. (Mar. 12, 2018) – The Molloy softball team fell in a doubleheader against West Chester University of Pennsylvania in the third day of action at the PFX Spring Games. With the losses, the Lions fall to 6-6 on the season.

Game One: Molloy 0, West Chester 7
The Golden Rams took a 3-0 lead after four innings of play on two RBI singles. West Chester added another run in the fourth with a double.

Molloy, who totaled three hits on the performance, got its best opportunity to score in the bottom of the sixth. Kaitlyn Snyder singled followed by a walk from Olivia Banulski. Mikaela Tribby was hit by a pitch to load the bases with two outs. Molloy was unable to score the run, eventually falling 7-0.

Snyder recorded two of the Lions' hits, going 2-for-3 with a double. Alexandra Russo added the third hit for the maroon and white.

Jenna Turato pitched four innings, striking out five.

Game Two: Molloy 3, West Chester 10
The maroon and white fell behind early in the second game, trailing 8-0 headed into the fifth inning.

In the top of the inning, Bernadette Mullane reached following a fielding error, setting up an RBI triple for Snyder. Courtney Greene drove in the junior with a single to right field to cut the deficit to 8-2.

Sarah Rambo started off the sixth inning with a single, moving to third on a single from Brianna Dalton. Sarah Glaser dug out a single to third base to score Rambo to bring Molloy within five, 8-3.

West Chester added two runs in the bottom of the sixth on a wild pitch and a double to take a 10-3 lead.

Greene singled for the Lions in the top of the seventh, but the maroon and white were unable to bridge the gap.

Greene, who went three-of-four, was the only Lion to record multiple hits.

Turato tossed 1.2 innings in the loss to fall to 4-3 on the season.

Molloy returns to action on Wednesday (Mar. 14), taking on Southern New Hampshire University at 9:00 a.m.
