Miami Shores, Fla. (Mar. 11, 2018) – The Molloy baseball team fell to the Barry Buccaneers, 13-4, Sunday afternoon at Feinbloom Field. The Lions moved to 5-8 overall with the loss. Senior
Jack McCarty tallied two hits and one RBI, and sophomore
James Messina collected two hits for the maroon and white.
Barry (10-11) scored two runs in the second inning to jump ahead 2-0.
The Lions responded in the top of the third. Senior
Angelo Navetta reached on an error, which brought home Messina. Later in the frame, freshman
Matt Overton hit an RBI single through the left side to score McCarty and tie the game at two.
The Buccaneers plated five runs in the fourth to go ahead 7-2.
The maroon and white cut into the lead in the sixth. Junior
Nick Marino drilled an RBI double down the right field line to make it 7-3. Then, McCarty hit a sacrifice fly to left, which scored Marino and brought the home team's lead to 7-4.
Barry scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth and one run in the seventh on its way to a 13-4 win.
Molloy returns to action Tuesday, Mar. 13 when it takes on Adelphi at the Barry Invitational. First pitch with the Panthers is scheduled for noon.
