Colchester, Vt. (Mar. 10, 2018) – The Molloy women's lacrosse team defeated the Saint Michael's Purple Knights, 13-10, Saturday afternoon at Duffy Field. The Lions improved to 2-3 with the win. Senior
Jessica Markowitz (4 goals and one assist) and junior
Brianna Wilson (four goals and one assist) tallied five points each for the maroon and white.
Molloy, led by three goals from Wilson, and one goal from junior
Casie Caiazza and sophomore
Kelsey Hammel, netted the first five goals of the game. Saint Michael's (0-1) scored back-to-back goals to cut the lead to 5-2. Markowitz tallied the next three goals to extend the Lions' advantage to 8-2. The Purple Knights closed the half with three straight goals, and the maroon and white led 8-5 at the break.
Caiazza (three goals) increased the lead to 9-5 with a free position goal. Saint Michael's tallied the next three goals to make it a one-goal contest, 9-8. Caiazza found the back of the net to bring the lead to 10-8. The home team scored consecutive goals to knot the score at 10. The Lions closed the game with goals from Wilson, sophomore
Nora Miller, and Markowitz to secure the 13-10 victory.

Kaitlyn Meyer picked up three ground balls, Wilson controlled seven draws, and freshman
Alexandra Long made 15 saves in the win.
Molloy returns to action Tuesday, Mar. 13 when it travels to Nyack. Face-off with the Warriors is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
