Hickory, N.C. (Feb. 19, 2018) – Men's lacrosse completed its opening road trip with a loss to No. 3 Lenoir-Rhyne University, 11-6.

Nick Del Giorno each tallied two goals for the maroon and white in the effort to lead the offense. Sophomore
Gabe Garcia also totaled two points on one goal and one assist. In net, senior
Ryan Toomey made 14 saves and caused two turnovers. Junior
Mike Durkin also forced two turnovers while junior
Justin English led the team with four ground balls and winning eight face-offs.
Lenoir-Rhyne took a 2-0 lead in the opening four minutes before Pastier brought the Lions back within one with 6:29 left in the first quarter. The Bears ended the frame with a four-goal run to take a 6-1 lead.
Down 8-1 in the second stanza, Pastier netted his second of the game following an assist from Garcia to bring Molloy within six at the half.
Del Giorno scored his first collegiate goal, unassisted, to start the third quarter before Lenoir-Rhyne added two more to lead 10-3 headed into the final 15 minutes of play.
The maroon and white made a run in the final frame, scoring three straight goals. Senior
Tim Steinman assisted on a goal from Garcia to start the run before junior
Michael Scheuerer brought Molloy within five, 10-5. With just over 90 seconds to play, Del Giorno tallied his second of the game following an assist from sophomore
Colin Kotarski. The Bears ended the contest with a goal to earn the 11-6 victory.
The Lions open up the home schedule on Saturday (Feb. 24) against Walsh University at 12:00 p.m.
