Brookville N.Y.  – The Molloy women's basketball team fell to the LIU Post Pioneers, 59-46, Wednesday evening at the Pratt Recreation Center. The Lions moved to 5-2. The Pioneers improved to 7-1.

How it Happened

• The Pioneers scored seven of the first nine points of the contest to take a 7-2 lead.
• With the score 14-9, senior Ihnacinse Grady made a jump shot and junior Kathryn Gibson hit a three-pointer to cut the Pioneers' lead to 14-12. The home team led 15-12 after the first quarter.
• With the score 25-21, LIU Post scored five straight points to increase its lead to 30-21.
• The Pioneers led 34-25 at the half.
• With the score 40-29, Molloy tallied seven of the next eight points, led by baskets from sophomore Gabriella Aspuru and junior Jenna Silletti to cut the host's lead to 41-36.
• LIU Post led 43-36 at the end of 30 minutes of play.
• Sophomore Melody Prichard made a layup to cut the Pioneers' advantage to 43-38 with 9:46 left.
• LIU Post recorded the next seven points to increase its lead to 50-38.
• Silletti made a pair of free throws to make it a 50-40 game, but that was as close as the Lions would get as the Pioneers went on to win 59-46.

Top Performances

• Grady, Silletti, and Aspuru netted nine points each.
• Sophomore Marthe Guirand tallied a team-high six rebounds.

• The maroon and white returns home to play NYIT Saturday, December 8. Tip-off with the Bears is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. at Quealy Gymnasium.
