How it Happened
  • The Lions took advantage of a five-point run, featuring two kills from redshirt junior Carly Banks, to take a 14-6 lead.
  • NYIT would come within six, 18-12, but Molloy maintained its advantage, attacking at a game-high .419, before sealing the set, 25-19.
  • The maroon and white continued its success into the second set, pulling in front to an early 5-1 lead.
  • The Bears would come within one, 7-6, before three straight points gave the Lions a 10-6 advantage.
  • The early run was enough for the Lions to hold on to take the second set, 25-18.
  • NYIT took a 17-14 lead in the third set, pulling together two runs of three or more points. The Lions tied the contest, 19-19, but the Bears added another three-point run to regain its advantage and force a fourth set.
  • The fourth set was incredibly back-and-forth with neither team gaining much advantage. A service error by the Bears knotted the score, 20-20. Molloy continued the streak with three additional points, taking a 23-20 lead.
  • NYIT would come within one, but kills from junior Hailey Wehr and sophomore Kacey Affrunti sealed the match in favor of the home team.
