Women's Soccer Blanked by ESU, 1-0

Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's soccer team fell to the East Stroudsburg Warriors, 1-0, Tuesday evening at John A. Darcy Field. The Lions moved to 3-7-1 overall. The Warriors improved to 9-3-1 overall.

How it Happened
  • The Lions generated the first two chances of the match. Sophomore Dana Poetzsch sent shots wide in the fourth and eighth minutes, respectively.
  • The contest was scoreless at the half with the shots even at four.
  • Junior Danielle Carey netted the match's lone goal in the 47th minute.
  • Molloy's best chance to tie the score came in the 89th minute. Senior Daria Castrogivanni sent a corner kick inside the six-yard box, but the try was cleared to safety.
Top Performances
  • Poetzsch led the Lions with three shots.
  • Sophomore Jackie Carty made one save.
Coach's Comments 
  • "Another tough loss against a solid team," head coach Steve Price said. "In tight games the first goal is crucial, unfortunately, we aren't getting it."

  • The maroon and white travels to Sparkill, N.Y. to play St. Thomas Aquinas Saturday, October 13. Kickoff with the Spartans is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
