Seaford, N.Y. – The field hockey team shut out the Valkyries of Converse College, 2-0, this afternoon at Cedar Creek Park. Molloy improved to 12-5 on the season and swept the season series against Converse.
How it Happened
- After back-and-forth action to start the contest, senior Ellyn Byrnes tallied a goal on the first shot of the game, drawing the goalie out of the net before shooting the ball past the defenders and into the net.
- The Lions maintained a 5-3 shot advantage after the first half.
- The Valkyries controlled much of the action in the second half, but senior Tara Byrnes made five saves in net to keep the visitors off the board.
- Redshirt senior Zoe Norton doubled the maroon and white's lead, scoring on a penalty stroke in the 59th minute.
- Sophomore Nadia Elcock led the Lions with nine shots.

Molloy will take on the winner of Mercy and Saint Thomas Aquinas in the East Coast Conference Field Hockey Tournament. Date, time, and location is to be determined.
