Seaford, N.Y. – The field hockey team fell to Mercy College, 1-0, in the final game of the East Coast Conference Field Hockey Tournament. Molloy sits at 12-6 on the season with the loss while the Mavericks improved to 6-12 with the victory.
How it Happened
- The early stages of the contest saw lots of back and forth action in the midfield, with neither team firing a shot through the first 13 minutes.
- The Mavericks got on the board via a penalty stroke by Rebecca Podskoch in the 25th minute.
- Mercy maintained a 4-2 shot advantage through the first half of play. Molloy however, came out firing in the second half to outshoot the Mavericks, 11-6, on the afternoon.
- Molloy also tallied an 11-7 advantage on penalty corners, despite not drawing one until the 29th minute of play.
Top Performances
- Redshirt senior Zoe Norton led the game with four shots while freshman Kyra Dalli fired three, two of which landed on net.
- Senior goalkeeper Tara Byrnes made two saves.
