Poetzsch's Hat Trick leads Women's Soccer Past Jefferson

Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's soccer team defeated the Jefferson Rams, 4-2, Monday evening at John A. Darcy Field. The Lions improved to 5-7-1. The Rams fell to 5-7-1.

How it Happened
  • The Lions jumped ahead 1-0 in the eight-minute on a goal from senior Amanda Milazzo.
  • Sophomore Dana Poetzsch extended Molloy's lead to 2-0 in the 13th minute.
  • Poetzsch added another tally in the 31st minute to put the maroon and white up 3-0.
  • Molloy made it 4-0 in the 69th minute on a goal from Poetzsch.
  • Jefferson cut the Lions' lead to 4-2 after freshman Alessandra DiStefano and senior Brooke Haden found the back of the net in the 83rd and 84th minutes, respectively.
Top Performances
  • Poetzsch netted her second hat trick of the season. The sophomore leads the Lions in goals (7) and points (16).
  • Milazzo tallied her second goal of the 2018 campaign.
  • Freshman Sabrina Bell and graduate student Felicia LaPera recorded their second assist of the season.
  • Sophomore Lauren Marinello and senior Daria Castrogivanni registered their first assist of the year.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Jackie Carty made one save in the victory.
Coach's Comments
  • "The team had another solid performance," head coach Steve Price said. "We scored four goals and everyone on the team contributed to the win. Our confidence is high going into Wednesday's match."
Looking Ahead
  • The maroon and white travels to play Bridgeport Wednesday, October 17. Kickoff with the Purple Knights is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
