Seaford, N.Y. – The field hockey team extended its winning streak to five straight with a 2-1 victory over Newberry College. The Lions improved to 9-4 on the campaign with the victory.
 
How it Happened

• Molloy spent much of the first half in the offensive zone, outshooting the Wolves 8-4 and drawing four corners.
• Solid passing up high set up redshirt senior Zoe Norton to feed freshman Erin Tudryn a shot right in front of the net's right corner. Tudryn beat the keeper to give Molloy the 1-0 lead.
• The Wolves came out strong in the second half, taking five shots in the opening seven minutes of the half, eventually scoring off of a penalty corner to knot the score.
• Less than 10 minutes later, freshman Jessica Kleber batted in a pass from sophomore Nadia Elcock, putting the Lions back in front.

 
Top Performances

• Norton led the contest with seven shots. Tudryn and Elcock each added three.
• Elcock and Norton each tallied helpers while Tudryn and Kleber netted the goals for the Lions.
• Senior goalkeeper Tara Byrnes made six saves.
• On the afternoon, the maroon and white earned a 17-12 shot advantage and an 8-6 advantage on penalty corner opportunities.
   

Looking Ahead
Molloy continues its three-game home stand on Wednesday (Oct. 17) against Mercy College. The contest is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. from Cedar Creek Park.
