Volleyball Sweeps Dominican, 3-0

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Sept. 6, 2017) – Fresh off the program's best start to a season since 2010, the Molloy volleyball team earned a sweeping 3-0 victory over Dominican College this evening in Quealy Gymnasium. Attacking at .377 as a team, the Lions were led by six kills from sophomore Devon Hagerstrom (Bethpage, N.Y.), who went six-of-nine on the attack on the evening.

The moon and white got out to an 8-1 victory in the first set, going on two straight four-point rallies. The Chargers would come within nine, 14-5, but Molloy continued rolling to a 25-9 victory.

In the second set, the Chargers scored an early point, but the Lions pulled in front 12-1 before Dominican would land another point. The visitors scored three straight points to bring the score to 15-5, but the Lions, taking advantage of Dominican errors, took the set 25-7.

Molloy took 12 of the first 14 points of the third set, taking a 14-2 lead. While the Chargers were able to rally to seven points, they were unable to overcome the dominant start from the Lions.

The Lions head to a two-day tri-match hosted by Post University over the weekend. On Saturday (Sept. 9), the squad faces the host, Post, and Southern Connecticut State University before taking on Bloomfield College and the College of Saint Rose on Sunday (Sept. 10). Action from Waterbury, Conn. begins at 10:00 a.m.
