Rockville Centre, N.Y. (Sept. 30, 2017) – Six different Lions found the back of the net as the Molloy women's soccer team defeated the Dominican Chargers, 6-0, Saturday afternoon at John  A. Darcy Field. The Lions improve to 4-3-1 with the win, and freshman Jackie Carty (East Islip, N.Y.) made two stops for her fourth shutout of the season.

The maroon and white struck first in the 11^th minute. Junior Katlyn Merino (Corona, N.Y.) fired a free kick from the top of the box in to make it 1-0. Molloy added to its lead in the 20^th minute after junior Amanda Milazzo (Setauket, N.Y.) buried a pass from senior Samantha Mendes (Mineola, N.Y.).

Freshman Dana Poetzsch (Hicksville, N.Y.) netted her team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 41^st minute to increase the home team's lead to 3-0.

The Lions, who outshot Dominican 20-5, picked up where they left off in the second half. Senior Kristen Cummings (Huntington, Station, N.Y.) touched a corner kick in from graduate student Kayla Roundsman (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) in the 48^th minute.Two minutes later, junior Caroline Zimmerman (Hicksville, N.Y) tallied a goal, which was assisted by junior Sam Bernieri (Massapequa, N.Y.), to bring the advantage to 5-0.

Bernieri netted a goal in the 74^th minute, off an assist from sophomore Amy D'Eloia (East Northport, N.Y.), to make it 6-0.

Molloy, which has scored 11 goals in its last two matches, returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 4, when it travels to play LIU Post. Kickoff against the Pioneers is slated for 3:30 p.m.
