Brookville, N.Y. (Oct. 4, 2017) – The Molloy women's soccer team was defeated by the No. 6 LIU Post Pioneers, 2-1,  Wednesday afternoon at Pioneer Soccer Park. The maroon and white moves to 4-4-1 overall and 2-1 in East Coast Conference play in the loss. Freshman Dana Poetzsch (Hicksville, N.Y.) netted Molloy's only goal.

Poetzsch, who recorded a team-high two shots,  put the Lions ahead in the 24^th minute after she fired a touch from junior Katlyn Merino (Corona, N.Y.) into the back of the net.

Following the goal, the Pioneers, who outshot the Lions 13-2 in the first stanza, applied pressure, but couldn't beat freshman keeper Jackie Carty (East Islip, N.Y.), who made eight saves in the opening half.

LIU Post (9-1, 3-0 ECC) evened the score, 1-1, in the 70^th minute on a goal from Gabrielle Clark. The Pioneers went ahead, 2-1, after Julia Duffy tallied a goal in the 86^th minute.

Molloy returns home to continue ECC play Saturday, Oct. 7, when it hosts NYIT. Kickoff with the Bears is scheduled for noon.
