Poetzsch, who recorded a team-high two shots, put the Lions ahead in the 24
th minute after she fired a touch from junior
Katlyn Merino (Corona, N.Y.) into the back of the net.
Following the goal, the Pioneers, who outshot the Lions 13-2 in the first stanza, applied pressure, but couldn't beat freshman keeper
Jackie Carty (East Islip, N.Y.), who made eight saves in the opening half.
LIU Post (9-1, 3-0 ECC) evened the score, 1-1, in the 70
th minute on a goal from Gabrielle Clark. The Pioneers went ahead, 2-1, after Julia Duffy tallied a goal in the 86
th minute.
Molloy returns home to continue ECC play Saturday, Oct. 7, when it hosts NYIT. Kickoff with the Bears is scheduled for noon.
