Rockville Centre, N.Y. (Sept. 3, 2017) - The Molloy women's soccer team fell to the Merrimack Warriors, 3-1, Sunday afternoon at John A. Darcy Field. The Lions move to 0-2 with the loss.
Junior
Katlyn Merino (Corona, N.Y.) scored on a penalty kick in the 73
rd for the maroon and white, which cut Merrimack's lead to 3-1.
The Warriors (2-0) opened scoring in the 19
th minute on a goal from senior Victoria Carter (Smithfield, R.I.).
Carter added a second goal in the 55
th minute to make it 2-0 Merrimack. The Warriors increased their lead to 3-0 on a goal from junior Taylor Cogliano (Bellingham, Mass.) in the 58
th minute.
The Lions attack was led by Merino and freshman
Dana Poetzsch (Hicksville, N.Y.), who each recorded two shots.

Jackie Carty (East Islip, N.Y.) made two saves in the losing effort.
Molloy returns to John A. Darcy Field on Thursday evening when they host Stonehill. Kickoff is slated for 4:00 p.m.
