Field Hockey Falls to Franklin Pierce, 5-0

Box Score SEAFORD, N.Y. (Sept. 3, 2017) – The field hockey team fell to 0-2 on the season with a 5-0 loss to Franklin Pierce University at Cedar Creek Park. Despite the loss, the Lions looked strong through the first half, blocking eight shots from reaching junior goalkeeper Tara Byrnes (Huntington, N.Y.). Offensively, Molloy was held to just two shots, with sophomore Lauren Keller (Westbury, N.Y.) putting the lone shot on target for the Lions. Byrnes made 16 saves in net in the effort.

The game remained scoreless through the first 20 minutes of action, until a crowd in front of the net allowed freshman Caitlin McDowell (Yarmouth, Maine) to score her first collegiate goal in the 22nd minute. Seven minutes later, junior Raegan Moulton (Baldwinville, Mass.) doubled the lead. The first half ended with Moulton assisting on a goal by junior Dayna Kowesky (Leominster, Mass.).

Kowesky added a second marker in the second half to make it 4-0 before sophomore Jessica Greeley (Winslow, Maine) scored the final goal of the contest.
The team heads on the road tomorrow as they take on Assumption College at 11:30 a.m.
