Uniondale, NY - The field hockey team shined in the opening weekend of East Coast Conference play, competing in the inaugural ECC Field Hockey Game of the Week against St. Thomas Aquinas, with both teams searching for its first win of the season. It would be Molloy who came out on top with a 4-0 victory, scoring once in each quarter to improve to 1-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play, while the Spartans dropped to 0-7 overall (0-1 ECC).

- The Lions came out firing, with junior Samantha Naples recording a shot on goal just 26 seconds into the contest.
- St. Thomas Aquinas goalkeeper Evelyn McEwen turned aside four shots from the Lions before sophomore Sarah Minelli found the back of the cage to give Molloy a 1-0 lead late in the first quarter.
- Senior goalie Kayla Monique Lipscomb recorded her first save of the afternoon in the 19th minute, keeping the Spartans off the board.
- Senior Caley Caleca put a shot on goal that was saved by McEwen, but sophomore Katie Ogurick quickly collected the rebound and found freshman Alexis Caldwell to score her first collegiate goal.
- The Spartans earned a penalty corner late in the second quarter, but the Lions' defense held strong to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
- Molloy opened the second half with three consecutive penalty corners, with Naples and Caleca each recording a shot on goal.
- Ogurick dished out her third assist of the afternoon, setting up Caldwell for her second goal of the game and giving the Lions a 3-0 advantage.
