SPARKILL, N.Y. (Sept. 10, 2017) – Field hockey was held scoreless as they fell 3-0 to Saint Thomas Aquinas College this afternoon at Spartan Field. The team drops to 0-5 on the season with the loss.

Zoe Norton (Sayville, N.Y.) led all players with four shots while freshman
Nadia Elcock (Baldwin, N.Y.) tallied two, both of which were on target. Senior
Jessica Waszczak (Northport, N.Y.) also recorded a shot on goal in the contest.
The Molloy defense, led by junior goalkeeper
Tara Byrnes (Huntington, N.Y.) kept the contest scoreless through the first half. Despite facing 11 shots, Byrnes made seven saves to keep the Spartans off the board. The defensive battle continued through most of the second half, as the game continued to remain scoreless until Jacqueline Dowling scored in the 53
rd minute of action.
In the 60
th minute, Briannah Thorne tallied a penalty stroke goal before Arielle Rodriguez added the third and final goal of the contest in the 66
th minute.
The Lions return to the field on Saturday (Sept. 16) as they head to Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. to face Mercy College at 1:00 p.m.
