Rockville Centre, N.Y. (Sept. 1, 2017) – The Molloy women's soccer team fell in its season opener to the Bentley Falcons, 1-0, Friday evening at John A. Darcy Field.
The Falcons (1-0) netted the match's lone goal in the 46
th minute. After Carly Kohler (West Islip, N.Y.) hit the cross bar, Lindsey Connolly (Suffield, Conn.) gathered the rebound and put it into the net.
Down a goal, the Lions (0-1) looked to even the score. In the 75

Kristen Cummings (Huntington Staton, N.Y.) fired a shot over the net off of a corner kick from junior
Katlyn Merino (Corona, N.Y.).
The maroon and white created another chance off of a Merino corner kick in the 90
th minute, but junior
Amanda Milazzo's (Setauket, N.Y.) header was stopped.
In the first half, each team created limited chances, and Bentley outshot Molloy 4-2.
Graduate student
Kayla Roundsman (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) and sophomore
Amy D'Eloia (East Northport, N.Y.) led the Lions with two shots.
Freshman goalkeeper
Jackie Carty (East Islip, N.Y.) made five saves in her collegiate debut.
The Lions return to John A. Darcy Field Sunday, Sept. 3 when they host Merrimack. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
