ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Mar. 4, 2017) – The Molloy women's lacrosse team dropped their second game of the season, falling 17-11 at Roberts Wesleyan College on Saturday (Mar. 4). Senior Cooper Sesselman (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and junior Jessica Markowitz (Baldwin, N.Y.) each posted a game-high five points in the effort.

The Lions (1-2, 0-1 ECC) went down early, as the Redhawks scored the first three goals of the contest. A marker from Markowitz off a feed from senior Alexa Watson (North Massapequa, N.Y.) put the maroon and white on the board, cutting the lead to two. Cassley Jackowski (Lafayette, N.Y.) quickly scored two to put Roberts Wesleyan ahead 5-1. Sesselman responded with two unassisted goals of her own to put Molloy within two. Sophomore Brianna Wilson (Levittown, N.Y.) found Markowitz, who scored to come within one goal. The Redhawks scored the next three goals, extending their lead to 8-4. Wilson connected with Markowitz again for the junior's third of the game to bring the Lions within three. Sesselman added a hat trick of her own with 36 seconds remaining in the first half cut the score to 8-6.

In the second half, Sesselman assisted on goals by Wilson and Markowitz to tie the contest at eight. Mackenzie Kidder (Carthage, N.Y.)briefly broke the tie before Markowitz evened the game up at nine apiece seconds later. The Redhawks scored the next four to go up 13-9 with seven minutes left to play. An unassisted marker from Watson brought Molloy within three, but that was as close as the Lions would get. Wilson added a goal in the final two minutes to set the score at 15-11, but Roberts scored twice in the final 60 seconds to earn the 17-11 win.

The maroon and white outshot the host 38-27, but 18 saves from Shannon Knapp (Lafayette, N.Y.) kept the Redhawks ahead. Wilson picked up a game-high four ground balls and controlled a game-high five draws. Sophomore Emily Bauer (Wantagh, N.Y.) caused four turnovers in the effort. Sophomore goalkeeper Alyssa Chetti (West Babylon, N.Y.) made six saves with two ground balls and one caused turnover.
