Women's Lacrosse Earns 100th Program Victory in 24-4 Win Over Nyack

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Mar. 18, 2017)– The Molloy women's lacrosse team exploded for a season-high 24 goals in its 24-4 victory over the Nyack Warriors at John A. Darcy Field Saturday afternoon. The Lions improved to 4-2 overall in the win. With the win, the Lions earned the program's 100th win. The milestone is also the 100th victory for Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Tom Campolettano

Senior Alexa Watson (North Massapequa, N.Y.), who netted three goals and three assists, and junior Jessica Markowitz (Baldwin, N.Y.), who tallied five goals and an assist, recorded a game-high six points each. Senior Cooper Sesselman (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and sophomore Brianna Wilson (Levittown, N.Y.) each scored four goals and an assist for five points. Abby Wilmot (Chambersburg, Pa.) and Victoria Silvers (Long Island, N.Y.) each scored twice for the Warriors, who fell to 0-6.

The Lions, who had 10 different players score, scored the first five goals of the contest, led by a pair of goals from Sesselman and Markowitz, and a goal from Wilson. Silvers then cut the lead to 5-1. Molloy closed the half on a 10-1 rally, led by goals from Markowitz, sophomore Michaela Siegler (Levittown, N.Y.), Wilson, Sesselman, freshman Amanda Reyes (East Meadow, N.Y.), and Watson, to take a 15-2 advantage at the half.

Molloy opened the second half on a 6-0 run, led by two goals from freshman Kelsey Hammel (West Babylon, N.Y), and a goal apiece from sophomore Casie Caiazza (Melville, N.Y), Seselman, Watson, and Markowitz, to take a 21-2 lead.

Freshman Shannon Atwell (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) and sophomore Nora Miller (Huntington, N.Y.) added goals for the Lions on their way to a 24-4 win.

Caiazza picked up a game-high three ground balls for the maroon and white while Sesselman controlled a team-leading six draws.

Sophomore goalie Alyssa Chetti (West Babylon, N.Y.) made eight stops.

The Lions return to action Sunday (Mar.19) to host Felician. The game is scheduled to start at noon.
