Hempstead, N.Y. (Nov. 30, 2017) - The men's basketball team fell tonight at Division I Hofstra University, 107-72. Sophomore Nick Corbett led the Lions with 20 points, one of three to reach double-digits on the evening. He was joined by 17 points from junior Curtis Jenkins and 15 from freshman Steven Torre. Torre led the contest with six assists and topped the maroon and white under the glass with six rebounds.
On the performance, Molloy shot 45% from the field (27-of-60), scoring 24 points in the paint and 32 off the bench.Â
Down by 13 early in the first half, the maroon and white, on back-to-back field goals from Corbett and Jenkins, cut the Pride's lead to just nine points. Hofstra rallied to go up by as much as 20 in the opening frame, ultimately taking a 51-32 advantage into the locker room.Â
The Lions out-shot the Pride in the second half, shooting 51.9% from the field compared to Hofstra's 50%, but the early deficit was simply too much to overcome, falling 107-72.Â
Molloy opens East Coast Conference play on Saturday (Dec. 2) as they face the University of the District of Columbia at 1:00 p.m. in Washington, D.C.
