Women's Soccer and AIC Play to Scoreless Draw

Rockville Centre, N.Y. (Oct. 8, 2017) -  The Molloy women's soccer team and the American International Yellow Jackets played to a scoreless draw Sunday afternoon at John A. Darcy Field. The Lions move to 4-5-2 with the tie. Freshman Jackie Carty (East Islip, N.Y.) made six saves for her fifth shutout of the season.

The Lions outshot the Yellow Jackets 9-6 in the first half. The maroon and white's best chance came in the 18th minute when junior Dominique Capolongo (Islip, N.Y.) was denied at point-blank range.

Molloy outshot  AIC 6-1 in the second half, but couldn't find the back of the net.

In the extra sessions, the Yellow Jackets held a 3-1 advantage in shots.

Capolongo, sophomore Mikayla Canales (Holbrook, N.Y.), graduate student Kayla Roundsman (Islip Terrace, N.Y.), junior Katlyn Merino (Corona, N.Y.), and freshman Lauren Marinello (Merrick, N.Y.) all took two shots apiece for the Lions, who outshot AIC 16-9.

Molloy returns to action Wednesday, Oct.11, when they travel to play ECC-foe Mercy. Kickoff with the Mavericks is slated for 3:00 p.m.
