Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. (Oct. 11, 2017) – The Molloy women's soccer team fell to the Mercy Mavericks, 2-0, Wednesday afternoon at Mercy Field. The Lions move to 4-6-2 overall and 2-3 in East Coast Conference play.
The Mavericks (11-1, 5-0 ECC) struck first in the opening minute on a goal from Heidi Serna. Molloy, which was outshot 6-2 in the first half, had its best chance come in the 25
th minute. Freshman
Dana Poetzsch (Hicksville, N.Y.) went one-on-one with the keeper, but her try missed the far post.
Mercy increased its lead, 2-0, in the 51
st minute after Haley Noble netted a goal. The maroon and white directed three shots towards the net in the second stanza, but couldn't cut into the home team's lead.
Freshman keeper
Jackie Carty (East Islip, N.Y.) made eight saves in the loss.
The Lions return to action Wednesday, Oct. 18, when they return home to host St. Thomas Aquinas. Kickoff with the Spartans is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
