Men's Soccer Concludes Season with Loss to Daemen

Rockville Centre, N.Y. (Oct. 28, 2017) – The Molloy men's soccer team concluded its season with a 3-2 loss to the Daemen Wildcats Saturday afternoon at John A. Darcy Field. The Lions finished the season with a 5-12 overall record and a 3-6 mark in ECC play.

The maroon and white, which outshot the Wildcats 21-10, opened the scoring in the third minute. Junior Daniel Massey (Warrington, England) completed a passing sequence with sophomore Angelo Bordenca (Flushing, N.Y.) and sophomore Michael Jimenez (Queens Village, N.Y.) to make it 1-0.  The Lions increased their lead two minutes later, junior Jason Alvarez (Valley stream, N.Y.) fired a shot, which was assisted by sophomore Anthony Cestaro (Massapequa, N.Y.), from 25 yards into the goal to bring the advantage to 2-0.

Daemen (7-11, 3-6 ECC) cut the lead to 2-1 on a goal from Noah Keem in the 25th minute.

The visitors netted the next two goals in the 52nd and 85th minutes, respectively, to go ahead, 3-2.

The Molloy offense, which was led by 10 shots from Massey, created chances but failed to knot the score. The Lions generated 15 corner kicks in the defeat.
