Rockville Centre, N.Y. (Oct. 28, 2017) – The Molloy men's soccer team concluded its season with a 3-2 loss to the Daemen Wildcats Saturday afternoon at John A. Darcy Field. The Lions finished the season with a 5-12 overall record and a 3-6 mark in ECC play.
The maroon and white, which outshot the Wildcats 21-10, opened the scoring in the third minute. Junior
Daniel Massey (Warrington, England) completed a passing sequence with sophomore
Angelo Bordenca (Flushing, N.Y.) and sophomore
Michael Jimenez (Queens Village, N.Y.) to make it 1-0. The Lions increased their lead two minutes later, junior
Jason Alvarez (Valley stream, N.Y.) fired a shot, which was assisted by sophomore
Anthony Cestaro (Massapequa, N.Y.), from 25 yards into the goal to bring the advantage to 2-0.
Daemen (7-11, 3-6 ECC) cut the lead to 2-1 on a goal from Noah Keem in the 25
th minute.
The visitors netted the next two goals in the 52
nd and 85
th minutes, respectively, to go ahead, 3-2.
The Molloy offense, which was led by 10 shots from Massey, created chances but failed to knot the score. The Lions generated 15 corner kicks in the defeat.
