Morris Named All-Met Second Teamer by MBWA

NEW YORK, N.Y. (Apr. 8, 2016) - Following a progressively dominant season in which he scored his 1,000th career point in a maroon and white uniform, junior guard Jaylen Morris (Amherst, N.Y.) of the Molloy College men's basketball team was named to the All-Met Division II Second Team by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association in a Friday (Apr. 8) release. The selection means that for the seventh straight year, Molloy has had a men's basketball player honored by the MBWA with one of its places on the All-Met Division II teams, which celebrate the best players in the New York and New Jersey metropolitan areas in a given season.

Morris---who was previously named an All-ECC Third Team honoree---had a stellar campaign for the Lions, factoring in double-digit point totals in 23 of 28 games played this season. He averaged 16 points per contest and led the team in field goal percentage (48.3%) and rebounding (8.3 RPG) while securing the team's highest assist/turnover ration at 1.91. His best game of the season came on Dec. 12, 2015 as he lit up Saint Thomas Aquinas---with All-Met Division II Player of the Year Justin Reyes (Haverhill, Mass.) and All-Met Division II Coach of the Year Tobin Anderson---for a season-high 28 points on a 9-for-17 shooting performance from the field. The junior guard had 11 double-doubles on the season, with a season-high 17 boards coupled with 16 points in a win over Roberts Wesleyan back on Jan. 23.

Morris and the rest of the All-Met honorees will be honored on Tuesday (Apr. 12) at the 83rd NIT/MBWA Haggerty Awards Dinner.
