Men's Basketball Suffers Tough Loss At LIU Post, 60-57

Box Score BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Feb. 11, 2016) - The Molloy men's basketball team could not capitalize on 14 LIU Post turnovers and failed to secure a three-point first-half lead in a 60-57 loss to LIU Post on Wednesday (Feb. 10) at the Pratt Recreation Center in Brookville. With the loss, Molloy falls to 6-16 and 4-10 in East Coast Conference play; LIU Post improves to 14-9 and 9-6 in ECC competition.

Freshman guard Curtis Jenkins (Farmingdale, N.Y.) had a team-high 20 points in 25 minutes off the bench, connecting on 6-of-16 field goal attempts including a 4-for-6 stroke from three-point range. Jenkins also pulled down eight rebounds, one off the team-high nine boards grabbed by fellowin freshman Derrick Okunpolor (Lynbrook, N.Y.) who also played a season-high 25 minutes. Senior guard Brandon Williams (Baldwin, N.Y.) chipped in 18 points as well, but the Lions shot just 18-66 (27%) from the field and 7-29 (24%) from three-point range in the defeat. 

Leading the Pioneers with a game-high 24 points was junior guard Jared Hall (South Orange, N.J.). Hall also grabbed nine rebounds, while senior point guard Dillon Burns (Staten Island, N.Y.) pitched in with 12 points and eight assists. Junior forward Greg Dotson (Abington, Pa.) had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Molloy will stay on Northern Boulevard for its next contest, a Saturday (Feb. 13) afternoon showdown in Old Westbury against NYIT.
