Box Score BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Nov. 8, 2016) – The Molloy volleyball team fell in a competitive three set match with University of Bridgeport on Tuesday (Nov. 8). Bridgeport, who is currently second in the East Coast Conference standings, improved to 14-11 on the season, 10-3 in conference. With the loss, Molloy falls to 6-23 on the year and 3-10 in ECC action. The sets were 25-17, 28-26, and 25-20 all in favor of the Purple Knights.
Senior
Danielle Williams (Alba, Texas) led the maroon and white offensively, notching a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs. Freshman
Hailey Wehr (Wading River, N.Y.) also added ten kills in the effort and hit .389 on the evening. Rookie setter
Sophia Smith (Georgetown, Texas) increased her season assist total to 880 with a 31 helpers against Bridgeport.
Dakota O'Neill (Long Beach, N.Y.) topped the team defensively, racking up 12 digs.
Bridgeport saw double-double performances from both Sara Cruz (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and Amelie Guinci (Cannes, France). Cruz posted a match-high 12 kills and added 10 digs, while Guinci totaled 11 kills and 11 digs. Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and Salina DeCicco (Kingston, N.Y.) led the match with 38 assists and 14 digs, respectively.
Molloy returns to action in their final game of the season, as they face LIU Post on Thursday (Nov. 10) at 7:00 p.m. at the Pratt Recreation Center.
