PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 20, 2016) - In a game that took place at Peter X. Finnerty Field on the campus of Pace University in Pleasantville on Thursday (Oct. 20), the Molloy College field hockey team was defeated by the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College in a 3-0 final. The loss dropped Molloy to 1-10 on the season while the Crusaders improved to 3-8 on the year.
The away side earned a 19-5 shots advantage and also posted a 13-2 edge in targets, with the game's first goal scored by Haley Dietrich (Kempton, Pa.) in the 28th minute of action. The freshman tipped in an effort by sophomore Xanthe Rademeyer (Auckland, New Zealand) that plunked off the wood placard in the net to give Belmont Abbey a lead that would not be surrendered. Tyla Goodson-Matthews (Auckland, New Zealand) and Savanna Gabriele (Brisbane, Australia) scored the other goals in the contest with assists coming from Rademeyer and Nicole Wong (Auckland, New Zealand) in the second half of the Crusaders' victory.

Jessica Waszcak (Northport, N.Y.) led Molloy with four shots and two shots on target and
Melissa Fuerst (Selden, N.Y.) added another shot for the maroon and white as well. Graduate goalie
Arianna Ovadia (East Meadow, N.Y.) made ten saves in cage for the Lions in the loss. Meanwhile, Belmont Abbey goalie Anna Fleetwood (Newark, Del.) collected two saves in the clean sheet.
Molloy will travel to Mercy College on Saturday (Oct. 22) for a 1 p.m. showdown with the Mavericks in Dobbs Ferry.
