Volleyball Slips in Three Sets to LIU Post

Box Score BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 22, 2015) - After narrowly losing the first two sets to LIU Post on Thursday evening, the Molloy College women's volleyball team could not turn the pendulum of momentum in its favor as the Lions were swept in three straight stanzas. Game scores at the Pratt Recreation Center favored the Pioneers 25-20, 25-22 and 25-10. LIU Post improves to 18-7 and 6-4 in ECC play with the win while Molloy falls to 4-18 and 2-8 in East Coast Conference competition.

Freshman outside hitter Jeanne Reinis (Santa Fe Springs, Calif.) led the Lions with nine kills in 31 total attempts. Reinis was the only member of the Lions to convert over four attacks for kills on an off night hitting-wise by the maroon and white. Junior setter Alley Stefanovski (North Chili, N.Y.) posted a double-double with 19 assists and 10 digs, while Reinis added seven digs in the match as well. Three players totaled five digs apiece for the Lions: senior outside hitter Cassie Palmer (Norwalk, Calif.), sophomore libero Dakota O'Neill (Long Beach, N.Y.) and freshman defensive specialist Meaghan Carr (Mineola, N.Y.).

A pair of freshmen led LIU Post as outside hitter Rachel Londot (Utica, Ohio) and middle blocker Elise Strange (Chesapeake, Va.) each totaled nine kills, as did sophomore outside hitter Danielle Valenza (Hauppauge, N.Y.). Strange had a career night by notching her nine kills with a total hitting percentage of .615 in the match. First-year setter Giulia Genna (Civitella San Paolo, Italy) dished out a game-high 34 assists while senior libero Rachel Ringor (Honolulu, Hawaii collected 12 digs and a match-best four service aces.

The Molloy College women's volleyball team will begin a four-game homestand on Tuesday (Oct. 27) by hosting Bloomfield College in a non-conference affair at Quealy Gymnasium. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
