Men's Soccer Falls in ECC Semifinal at NYIT, 3-0

Box Score OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (Nov. 6, 2014) - On a rainy, raw and chilly Thursday afternoon on the campus of the New York Institute of Technology, the fourth-seeded Molloy College men's soccer team fell to the top-seeded Bears by a final score of 3-0 in the 2014 East Coast Conference Tournament Semifinals round. With the win, the Bears improved to 13-2-1 overall and advance to the ECC Championship game on Saturday versus LIU Post (who defeated Dowling College today, 4-1). Following the loss, the Lions see their 2014 season come to a conclusion with a 5-11-2 ledger.

The Bears were able to find the back of the netting in the 21st minute to take a 1-0 lead. That tally was notched by Dominic Iovino and assisted by Javier Gallardo. NYIT found its insurance goal in the 59th minute when Ivan Rico scored his sixth marker of the year.

With two minutes remaining in regulation, the Bears tacked on a third goal when Gonzalo Barroso scored to change the score to 3-0.

In net for the Lions, senior goalkeeper Justin Corke (Valley Stream, N.Y.) made four saves. His counterpart, Jonathan Rico stopped two shots for the Bears.

Sophomore Christopher Ernest (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) and freshman Dale McNevin (Centereach, N.Y.) had the two shots on-goal for Molloy this afternoon.

NYIT outshot Molloy today, 17-7, while the corner kick count was even at 4-4.
