Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. (Oct. 29, 2014) - The Molloy College men's soccer team received a goal from senior midfielder
Hamza Elotmani (Casablanca, Morocco) in the 36th minute on Wednesday afternoon against the University of D.C., but it wasn't enough as the Firebirds scored in the 33rd and 67th minutes to claim the East Coast Conference-victory. With the win, the Firebirds improved to 9-6-1 (5-4 ECC), while the Lions slipped to 5-10-1 overall and 5-4 in the league.
Molloy is currently tied with UDC for the fourth and final playoff spot in the ECC Tournament. Each squad has one more game remaining in the regular season as Molloy takes on Bridgeport on Saturday, while the Firebirds host Dowling.
Elotmani's marker came off his corner kick that bounced in. That was the equalizer as the Lions were down 1-0 at that point. UDC returned the favor when it scored the eventual game-winning goal 31 minutes later.
In net, senior goalkeeper
Justin Corke (Valley Stream, N.Y.) made three saves for Molloy, while his counterpart Ever Alvarez stopped 12 shots.
Molloy recorded 23 shots, with 12 of them coming on-goal, while UDC had 17 shots. The Lions also held the edge in corner kicks, 5-4.
