(Oct. 25, 2014) - A 74th-minute goal doomed Molloy College as the St. Thomas Aquinas College men's soccer team held on for the 1-0 East Coast Conference-victory on Saturday in Sparkill, N.Y. With the win, the Spartans are now 7-5-3 and 4-5 in the ECC, while the Lions dropped to 5-9-1 and 5-3 in the league.
The game's lone goal was scored by Michael Wagner.
In net for the Lions, senior netminder
Justin Corke (Valley Stream, N.Y.) made five saves, while his counterpart Nicholas Palumbo stopped six shots for the Spartans.
Molloy senior midfielder
Hamza Elotmani (Casablanca, Morocco) had two shots come on-goal, but unfortunately the Lions weren't able to find the back of the netting, falling to their ECC opponents.
The shots were tied at 12-12, while the Spartans held the advantage in corner kicks, 8-3.
Molloy is now tied with Dowling College for third place in the ECC standings.

Danny Longo and the Lions return to the field on Wednesday, Oct. 29. Molloy will try to further shore up a playoff spot when they play at the University of the District of Columbia at 3 p.m.
