Volleyball Falls to Saint Rose, 3-0

Box Score ALBANY, N.Y. (Oct. 11, 2014) - The Molloy College women's volleyball squad traveled to Albany, N.Y. to take on non-conference opponent the College of Saint Rose on Saturday afternoon, eventually falling to the Golden Knights, 3-0. The final scores of the three sets were: 25-22, 25-22, 22-19. After the triumph, Saint Rose is now 13-4, while the Lions slipped to 8-11 on the season.

In the first set, Molloy was down 16-10, before reeling off five straight points to cut its deficit to one. A few minutes later with the score 23-18 in favor of Saint Rose, the Lions scored four straight points. Junior Cassie Palmer (Norwalk, Calif.) had two service aces, while the other two points were recorded off Saint Rose attack errors. However, Saint Rose found the final two points to win the set.

In the second set, with Saint Rose leading 11-9, the Golden Knights scored five consecutive to take a 16-9 advantage. Later on in the set, the Lions put together an 8-0 run, however, it wasn't enough as Saint Rose went up, 2-0 in the match.

The Golden Knights closed out the third set on an 8-3 burst to win the match.

For the Lions, junior Danielle Williams (Alba, Texas), sophomore Grace Cookson (San Diego, Calif.) and senior Shannon Appel (Rockaway Park, N.Y.) each had seven kills, while sophomore setter Alley Stefanovski (North Chili, N.Y.) dished out 20 assists.

Head Coach Billy Corrao and the Lions return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 14 when they play at Queens College beginning at 7 p.m.
